Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Luxel desktop application (the “App”) and the website luxel.hyprlab.co (the “Site”), together the “Services,” provided by Hyprlab (“we,” “us”). By downloading, installing, or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
The software and its license
Luxel is free and open-source software released under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3 (AGPLv3). Your rights to use, copy, modify, and distribute the App are governed by that license. Where anything in these Terms conflicts with the AGPLv3 as it applies to the software itself, the AGPLv3 controls for the software.
Trademarks
LIFX is a trademark of LiFi Labs, Inc. Luxel is an independent open-source project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by LiFi Labs. The name is used solely to describe the products the App is compatible with.
Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for the devices and networks you connect the App to, and for any LIFX Cloud credentials you choose to use with it.
- You agree to use the Services only for lawful purposes and not to misuse them or interfere with their operation — including only controlling lights you own or are authorized to control.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and of your home network.
Third-party services
If you opt into cloud control, Luxel connects directly to the LIFX Cloud, a third-party service operated by LiFi Labs, Inc. Your use of it is governed by LIFX's own terms and privacy policy. We are not responsible for third-party services, their availability, or their handling of your data. How Luxel handles data is described in our Privacy Policy.
No warranty
The Services are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any data (including saved scenes and settings) will not be lost. This section is consistent with the disclaimer of warranty in the AGPLv3.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will Hyprlab or its contributors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Services, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Changes to the Services and these Terms
We may modify or discontinue the Services at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time; material changes will be reflected here with a revised “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
